A key advisor to Melania Trump is getting called out on social media for his over-the-top praise of the first lady.
“I believe that our first lady ― the current first lady, Melania Trump ― is the single most consequential first lady in the history of our nation,” senior advisor Marc Beckman declared during a Newsmax appearance on Tuesday.
He said the first lady has a “commitment” to children, not just in the United States but around the world, and highlighted her efforts to help with four family reunifications in Ukraine.
While most would agree that those reunifications are worthy of praise, Beckman took it to the next level.
“It’s fair to argue that she has had more impact ― substantive impact ― as it relates to the peace process between Ukraine and Russia by singlehandedly executing on four reunifications between Ukrainian and Russian children and their families,” he said.
But in terms of being “the most consequential first lady in the history of our nation,” Trump’s overall resume is pretty slim.
Unlike most of her predecessors, she appears in public infrequently and speaks out only rarely. On one recent occasion, she held a media availability to distance herself from Jeffrey Epstein, the late sex abuser and one-time friend of her husband, President Donald Trump.
In terms of actions, she is perhaps most known for her “Be Best” campaign, unveiled during Trump’s first term, which included an anti-cyberbullying component ― one that was constantly undermined by her own husband’s wildly over-the-top attacks on his critics.
It was later revealed that at least some of her “Be Best” material appeared to have been plagiarized from a publication released during the Obama administration.
Trump has, in addition, worked on projects related to foster children and an anti-revenge-porn initiative. Her other public efforts have included promoting a film about herself, selling Christmas ornaments, and pushing her meme coin on social media, which has since collapsed in value.
She might also be remembered for her eerie White House Christmas decor, as well as a complaint about the tradition. “I’m working like a, my ass off at Christmas stuff,” she said in a 2018 conversation recorded by former friend and aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff. “You know, who gives a f..ck about Christmas stuff and decoration but I need to do it, right?”
